Nurturing Your Marriage in the Summer Season

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil." - Ecclesiastes 4:9 (ESV)

Reflection:

Summer is a season of warmth, growth, and renewal, presenting a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bond of marriage. As the days lengthen and the pace of life often slows down, consider these tips to nurture your marriage:

1. Prioritize Quality Time: Amidst the busyness of summer activities, carve out intentional time together. Whether it's a picnic in the park, a leisurely walk on the beach, a quick trip together to the grocery store, or simply enjoying a sunset together, cherish moments of connection.

2. Communicate Openly: Summer can bring changes in routines and schedules. Stay in sync by communicating openly about plans, expectations, and desires. Use this time to deepen your understanding of each other's needs and dreams.

3. Serve Each Other: Look for opportunities to serve and support one another. Whether it's helping with household chores, planning a surprise outing, or simply offering a listening ear, acts of service demonstrate love and strengthen unity. It can be the little things that have the biggest impact. Not sitting down and seeing how Allison needs help or helping her when it’s obvious has a huge impact.

4. Celebrate Each Other: Celebrate milestones, achievements, and special moments together. Acknowledge each other's accomplishments and affirm your appreciation for one another. Celebrating together builds a sense of shared joy and accomplishment.

5. Pray Together: Involve God in your marriage by praying together regularly. Seek His wisdom, guidance, and blessing for your relationship. Prayer cultivates intimacy and unity, anchoring your marriage in faith and trust.

6. Keep Romance Alive: Summer's relaxed atmosphere offers opportunities for romance. Plan date nights, write love notes, or surprise each other with small gestures of affection. Cultivating romance nurtures passion and keeps your relationship vibrant.

7. Grow Spiritually Together: Use summer as a time to deepen your spiritual connection. Attend church services together, engage in Bible study or devotional reading, and discuss your faith journey. Growing spiritually together strengthens the foundation of your marriage.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of marriage. Help us to cherish and nurture our relationship during this summer season. Grant us wisdom, patience, and love to grow closer to each other and to You. May our marriage be a reflection of Your love and grace to the world, but first to our 6 children. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May these tips and prayers inspire you to intentionally invest in your marriage during the summer, fostering a relationship filled with love, joy, and God's blessings.
